Any ideas what this could have possibly been?
DH and I were woken up around 4:00 am this morning to the most bizarre sound. We think it must have been an animal(s) of some kind and are leaning towards raccoons.
It sounded like a car that has one of those squeaky fan belts. You know, that really loud, high pitched squeak. That is the best thing I can compare it to. It just really freaked us out because we had the windows open and it sounded like it was right outside our house! 
I am wondering if there were a couple of raccoons fighting. We have no idea... it was just very bizarre!

Yep. Raccoons. We had that in the spring. I think they were mating and were up in a tree level with our bedroom window.

This is really weird, but I live in Queens and at about 4 in the morning we were woken up by what sounded like air raid alarms - - not kidding. I contemplated going to the computer, thinking that something was going on.
