Any Inclusion Teachers
If so , do you have completely unannounced observations?
My Co-teach and I plan together, and this Monday she was going to do the "whole" group and I was going to "support" (this is just one of the many models we have been using)
5 min before we start the AP comes in to observe ME! I explain to her that we had planned for my co teacher to to whole class I and I was going to support. She states "I don't want to see her, I want to see you"
So to make a long story short we ended up switching roles and it turned out to be more of a team teach. It went as best as it could considering.
I'm just a little taken aback by the completely unannounced, I don't think it is fair considering there are so many different models of inclusion.
Thoughts?

Re: Any Inclusion Teachers
I teach inclusion and we do have unannounced observations...when the director of special ed came in, I was teaching whole group, my co-teacher was supporting, but we changed our next lesson to our small group reading lessons so that she could see that as well...we offered to change it, but I totally agree its a tough situation to be put in.

Re: Any Inclusion Teachers
I teach in the inclusion program. I teach at the HS level so it may be a little different. But both my director (of special ed) and building administrators have observed me unannounced. My director observed just me and my principal observed both of us at the same time. We don't usually have issues like that because we team-teach the entire lesson.

Re: Any Inclusion Teachers
that is one of the things that I HATE about observations- you have to put on a show- i think you shouldnt have to alter what you are doing for an observation

I totally agree. I hate observations! I have one more left this year (I think). And for me they are always unannounced
