Any Lindenhurst girls out there?

Every morning this week I've noticed people dressed as the Statue of Liberty waving signs about taxes. Not sure what it says since I'm too busy speeding down wellwood ave. Chat Icon What's that all about?

And whats with the lady and her three kids living in a pig sty of a home? It gives lindenhurst such a bad rap. Chat Icon

Don't forget the Lindenhurst parents who are facing charges for hiding that their son and a friends ran over and killed a college student in Conneticut.

Don't know what is going on around here, but the urine house was nasty and disturbing to see this morning!!

Filth in home of mom, 3 kids sparks cops to act

BY ANDREW STRICKLER

February 22, 2007

A scene of filth greeted Suffolk police yesterday in the Lindenhurst home of a mother and her three daughters, prompting police to file a report with child protective services.

Police said they were called to the modest white house on Nevada Street in the early afternoon after the resident's estranged husband went there with a relative and discovered a house strewn with feces and garbage.

"I knew something was not right over here, but I never imagined it was anything like this," said Ray Young Jr., 42, who co-owns the house with his father.

Young said the house is occupied by his estranged wife, Deborah Young, who lives there with the couple's three daughters, ages 10, 12 and 14.

The couple started bitter divorce proceedings in 2003, Ray Young Jr. said.

Reached at her parents' home in Windham last night, where she was staying with the kids, Deborah Young accused her husband of breaking into the house.

"He has no right to be in there," she said.

When asked about the state of her home, she said, "Well, I don't know how much of any mess might be mine and how much they did. They've been coming in and out of the house through the basement." She declined to answer further questions.

Ray Young Jr. said he went to the house yesterday after a worker delivering heating oil discovered that little oil had been used in recent weeks.

Young, who works for the oil delivery business owned by his father, said he believed there might be a blockage in the heating system. After smelling the emanating stench and looking through the window, he said he broke into a back window.

A reporter invited into the home found hundreds of plastic bottles and cups filled with a dark liquid scattered throughout the garbage-strewn house; dozens more stood among dolls and piles of children's clothes upstairs. A pile of soiled tissue and toilet paper stood 6 feet high against one wall in a downstairs bedroom; a few feet away, a bathroom overflowed with a similar mountain of wadded paper and latex gloves. The air was thick with the stench of urine and feces.

Police took photos of the interior of the house yesterday and later said that the case had been referred to child protective services. They confirmed that the house was filthy and in a serious state of disrepair.

A representative from child protective services could not be reached last night.

Young said he and Deborah married in 1990 and separated in 2001. Deborah and the couple's three daughters continued to live in the home. Ray Young Jr. said he had not been in the house since 2001 and that a court order prevented him from visiting his children.

Several neighbors said the family was a mysterious presence on the street. Toni Spagnoula, 42, who lives across the street, said she often saw Deborah Young sitting for an hour or more in a running car in the driveway with her children.

Suffolk police said they received a call on Feb. 14 from an anonymous person who said that a woman was sleeping in her car with children in the driveway. Police said the responding officer found no car in the driveway and no answer at the door.

Another neighbor, Christina Lukken, said she also saw the children sitting in their running car, sometimes with their mother, other times alone. Lukken, who said she entered the house for the first time yesterday at Ray Young's request, said she was shaken by what she saw.

"That vision of what I saw in that house will stay with me for the rest of my life," she said.

I just have to wonder what was going through that woman's head.

Even if it was normal to deposit human waste in those bottles - wouldn't you put them in teh garbage or something after. I mean the rest of Lindenhurst has garbage collection I'm assuming and she's collecting this health hazardChat Icon

I was thinking the same thing. Not to be gross or anything, but wouldnt it have been more sanitary to just go in the backyard or something? I mean anything else other than putting it in bottles?!

DH & I were saying the same thing. He was like, they still get garbage collection, so ***?

Maybe she was afraid that the garbage people would see what she was throwing out.....I dunno. Reminded me of the creepy scene in "The Aviator."Chat Icon
