Any long car ride tips? baby will be 2 months..10 hour trip
So I decided to pack up the car, me, baby, and my sister who will be on Spring Break that week and drive NC to NY.
I really want my car in NY. I have so much stuff to lug up as well...I also feel that if I do this trip, my first time with baby is done and I won't fear it next time.
I wanted to leave at baby's bedtime, but DH is weary of me at gas stations in the middle of the night, or if I have to pull over somewhere to feed him.
So I am thinking maybe 5 or 6 am...
has anyone's baby sat there that long? I have to keep telling myself he's not in pain, he's just not being held.

Traveling with a NB is pretty easy, it's when they get older. We drive all the time back and forth to LI for 8 hours. Most of the time the kids just slept the whole time or we fed them when we stopped for gas. We usually leave very early in the AM.

great thanks! that's what I figure, it will either be crazy easy, or a day of crying. I could see how it would be more difficult with older kids.

Does he usually sleep when you drive? If so, most likely, he will on the drive, too.

Oh how I miss the ease of traveling with an infant. You'll be fine and I'm sure the baby will do great. We made the trip from NY to NC when Jake was 4 months old and it was a piece of cake.
ETA: We left at his bedtime (7pm-ish)and he slept through.

we did GA to MD when DD was just over 3 months old...it was a 10 hr drive. Basically, we fed her the bottle in the car while driving and pulled over at rest stops to change her.
I also sat in the back to keep her entertained while she was awake and to feed her at her timely intervals.

thanks! he really doesn't sleep in the car..he only naps if I am holding him.
I am going to have my sister sit in the back, this kid is so high maintence, he likes to have his hand held back there or he gets lonely.

We just drove from NY to FL with the baby. She was 7 months old at the time. We bought a DVD player and that occupied her for alot of the time.
