Any Moms of Twins Have This??
Did any of you get an echocardigram done later in your pregnancy? My sono tech told me i would need one at 23 weeks and seemed to mention to the woman it was to check more on Baby B. She didn't seem worried only cautious about it. Just wondering if any of you had this?

Re: Any Moms of Twins Have This??
I had it done. When I had the regular 20 week sonogram done they found a "bright spot" (can't think of the medical term right now) on Baby B's heart. So I had to go for genetic counseling (cuz sometimes its a marker for Downs) and an echocardiogram for the babies. Its just like a sonogram only they are taking a closer look at the heart.

I had to go for them too. It is jsut like a regular sonogram, but we had a heart Dr do it, and they focused on the heart.
Where did they send you to get it done? I had Dr Better do it at Madonna Perinatal, and she was very good.

That is where i am getting it done. Actually i get them all done at Madonna now. The one in Mineola. They check the amniotic sacs to make sure the fluids are good, the chord insertions and measure the heart, bladders, bones, etc every two weeks. They are being very cautious with me. I really like them, they all are very caring and nice. The wait stinks though!
ETA - I have not met one of the doctors yet. Just the sono techs. Not sure who will be looking at the heart then.

Re: Any Moms of Twins Have This??
I normally went to Madonna in my Dr's office, or in Babylon, so I was shocked at the wait in Mineola. I only went there when the sonographer at the Dr's office could not get good pics.
Just and FYI. I saw Dr better at Madonna. Then she said she wanted me to come back in a few weeks to her office, since they had better equipement there. So I went to her and I never got a referral, figured I didn't need one since she told me to go see her in a different office. I had to fight with my insuracne to pay in full. It finally got all paid up, but it was a PITA. So if they tell you to go to their office, get a referral from your OB if you need them.

Re: Any Moms of Twins Have This??
I'm almost 23 weeks and no one has mentioned to me having it done. At my 20 week level II, they said everything looked fine. I have another growth sono on Thursday, so maybe they will recommend it then.

Wait was Dr. Better at the Mineola one and then asked you to go her office at another location? I was under the impression that the doctors at Madonna were at their practice. Thanks for the heads up.
Can i also ask you Michelle...since we have the same types of twins....how ofter you went for sonograms after 20 weeks??

Re: Any Moms of Twins Have This??
Dr Better has her own office and works at Madonna. The first time I saw her at Madonna, and then I saw her at her office. The second time I saw her I needed a referral.
I had to have a bunch after 20 weeks, but that was because they noticed a heart issue with one of my sons, and they could not get good face pictures of one of them either, so they kept making me come back.
From 28 weeks on, I had one every week, to check blood flow. I think at least it was at 28 weeks, if not then at 30 weeks.

Re: Any Moms of Twins Have This??
I have them every other week now to check for blood flow issues. I assume starting around 28 will be when i go every week.
I thought this most recent one was going to be quick (they just had to check two things) and it took like an hour. It's crazy how much they do, but it makes me feel much better everytime they say "that looks good".
