Any Moms that Strictly Pumped breast Milk? Question for You
My sister just had a baby on tuesday, its her first baby. She really wanted to breast feed, and bought a Medala pump that was around 300, and it works amazing, she is able to pump very easily with it. She is not having the baby nurse from her at all.
My question, Does the breast milk dry up faster when you strictly use the pump? as opposed to nursing as well and pumping?
Thanks!

I don't think you produce as much as if the baby nursed. I suppose if she increased her time a little with the pump she could figure it out.
Breastfeeding is supply & demand. I think you need the baby "demanding" more by continuing to nurse because he/she is hungry.
I saw a signficant drop when I pumped.

Re: Any Moms that Strictly Pumped breast Milk? Question for You
Strictly pumping is never as effective as nursing in the beginning.
I EBF my twins for three weeks but had supply issues so now I pump but no matter what I do and how often I pump I still must supplement with formula.
Your sister will need to pump religiously every two hours and pump after the baby eats in the middle of the night in order to build up her supply.
Hopefully, she's the type of woman that produces a lot. There is no rhyme or reason some women just produce more milk than others.
Good luck to her.
