any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I am thinking of it. I have bra strap length hair now. I have cut it short a few times, but I don't think my DH likes it.

My commute is two and a half hours each way, so I have to wake up early and I get home around 8:30 or 9:00 each night. I dread the blow drying process now that I have the baby.

I am so scared I will regret it because I have been trying to grow it!!! I guess I am bored of it too.

Anyone do this and did it make a difference?

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I cut it shoulder length while I was pregnant and can't wait for it to grow back!
I just got my Japanese Hair Straightening touch up, so no blowdrying for meChat Icon But I agree, it is impossible to find time for hair with a DC. Before my touch-up my hair was in a bun every day.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

Mine was about the length your's is now and I just cut it last week to just brushing my shoulders. It is such a relief! Although, I waited over a year to do it, and the summer weather was my main issue with long hair!

I did! I personally think that short hair is more interesting than long hair. You have a beautiful face and its the best way to show it off. Anyone can have long hair. It takes a lot of confidence to pull off shorter hair, plus it prevents that mommy pony tail that always happens. I range from long hair to short hair, and always go back to short. I say go for it!!!

I cut mine a little bit shorter and I completely regret it. If you are on the fence about it, I would think about it for a little longer.

I love your short hair! I think I keep my hair long for my DH and not me! What is wrong with me? I have to please myself.

I have had short hair in the past a few times, and I feel like everyone hate me with short hair. Once, I cut it shoulder length and my SIL didn't even say a word about it, she didn't acknowledge it or anything! It made me feel horrible.Chat Icon

What about doing Japanese Hair Straightening? I love it. No need to blow it out.

My hair was short when I first had DC #1. I've since grown it out to bra strap length and I actually find it much easier than short hair. I think there's less styling involved with longer hair and I always have the option to pull it back if I need to.

I was going to suggest this- very wash and go

my hair is bra strap lenght and takes me 2 minutes to blow out the front

then I go

sometimes I don't even do that

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I would maybe cut it a little past your shoulders, but i wouldnt chop it. I chopped mine 2 years ago, and at first I lliked it and after a few weeks I started hating it.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I always had long hair (bra strap) and curly. I cut it to about shoulder length when after our honeymoon. Then when I had DS it didn't curly as much, it was more very wavey. I still had it shoulder length maybe a little longer. Then after I had DD it was a little longer but straight (hormones). I cut it in April and then I cut it shorter in May and I love love love it! I have never received so many compliments on my hair before. It is so easy for me to do also. In 12 minutes (I timed it Chat Icon ) my hair is done. If I go over with a flat iron then it takes another 10 minutes but then it lasts about 3-4days.
Here is a before (not the best, I am in the pink long sleeve shirt) and after which was my May haircut.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I actually grew my hair out after having DS.

I find short hair much more high maintanence than long.

Long - I can pull back in a pony any time.
Short - you have to blow dry every time.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

my hair has been long for quite some time. (past bra strap).

i also have JHS and I got it done right after DD was born almost 2 years ago.

It was the best thing I could do for my hair.

It would take me 2 hours to straighten my wavey hair.

Now as others said it is wash and go.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

My hair was always long (passed my boobs) and when I got preggo with DS it was hard for me to blow out everyday so before I had him I got it cut it up to my neck and loved it! but now I want a change and want my long hair back--lol I thought it would be easer to blow out since its shorter now but my hair is so thick that it still takes me like an hour to blow out/plus using my flat iron....Chat Icon My hair is highlighted so I cant get the JHS.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

My hair was long. It was down to my butt. I cut about a foot off last week. It is now a little above my bra strap and I love it. I just wash it at night and put it in a pony. When I wake I just brush and go.

Re: any new mommies cut their hair shorter?

I had cut my hair short...kinda like a varied posh spice cut and was growing it out during my pregnancy.

Well I went and CHOPPED it off 3 months after DD was born. HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake, since I gained weight during the pregnancy I feel like it just makes my face look fatter, I still don't have the time blow dry it so I always put it back.

Finally almost 7 months later my hair is at a somewhat manageable length but I can't wait for it to grow back.
