I don't have personal experience with it, but from the statistics I found when we were looking in the area, we had narrowed our search to only Lake Grove/Sachem schools.

I too don't have personal experience with Middle Country, but I know a few people that do and they love it. That area is one of the many areas that DH have been doing our home search as well. I've had many people tell me they prefer MC over Sachem b/c of the size. MC is much smaller and it's easier for each individual child to be recognized more and not get "lost"

If you do a search there was a lengthy thread regarding MC schools recently.

Re: Any opinions on Lake Grove/Middle Country SD?
I used to work in Centereach HS. Overall it had lots of opportunities for high-achieving kids, lots of help for SpEd and ELL students. Not a lot in the way of diversity. Good sports teams. The middle school is literally right next door.
If you're going to look in Middle Country SD, think the areas zoned for CHS are better than those that go to Newfield, but that's JMO.
Good luck!

With the school district reconfiguration about 5 years ago, the Sachem schools are about the same size as MC now. Two high school with graduating classes of about 500. THe Sachem Middle Schools are a little smaller than MC. There are 4 in Sachem feeding 2 HSs and 2 in MC feeding 2 HS.
just in case size is a determining factor for you...

Re: Any opinions on Lake Grove/Middle Country SD?
Sachem's high schools graduate about 500 students each; MC's were in the high 300s (at least, those were the #s when I was there). They're comparable districts.
