any psychologists?
i need Help. My son was just diagnosed with adhd at its worst!!! A little background info my other son has aspergers. The one with ADHD is only 4. His psychiatrist wants me to try methylin oral suspension prn for his behavior issues. i don't know what to do. His behavior is becoming a real problem in our lives but do i want to medicate him so young? will it help him? i feel bad because he is always in trouble and i reaally don't think he means to do half the things he does!

I am not a psychologist. I am SW and I work with adults so I am a little out of my league here.
But my opinion on medicine in general is it is there to help. If you dont abuse it and really use it only as needed and not instead of parenting, I think it may be helpful. Being unmedicated may lead to other problems such as not being able to make friends, being in trouble and not being able to learn in school.
As a parent I know this must be a hard decision.

Just wanted to give you . Is their any type of therapy you can do in addition to putting him on medication so they work hand in hand?

well i think there are behavior modification programs. i am waiting for a developmental ped appointment and then i may know more. i am leaning towards trying the medication just because of how out of hand he is. i just feel like he is soooo young.
