Any rough estimates available for extensive renovation projects?
We are currently house hunting and not seeing anything we are really happy with. Either the lot is great and the house is a mess or the house is perfect with no yard. Soooo I figure its time to get educated on doing gut renovations. Can anyone give me a high level introduction to what renovating a house around 2500 sq feet would be. Assume 4 baths, kitchen with granite, everything done well but no 24 carat gold fixtures or marble imported from italy....

my friend is an architect and he says $200 per sq/foot is pretty much lowest you can get (after katrina wood and some metals skyrocketed), but said you could do a nice job with $300-400 a sq/ft
