any swimmers?
Im out of shape and always get bored with exercising. I have the cap, the goggles and the pool at my gym but I'm looking for some recommendations on how to ease myself into a swimming routine.
TIA

Re: any swimmers?
dont worry about speed...slow & steady is fine. maybe start your first day with 10 laps (nice & slow)...then after a few days or even a week up it to 14 or 16...then gradually up it to 20.
remember, no matter what other exercises you do, swimming uses all differnt muscles! i run race & marathons yet when i jump in the pool for my first swim every summer I am ALWAYS sore the next day or two!!!

Re: any swimmers?
Find a stroke that is easiest for you and alternate between the two. Starting with two laps then work your way up. Technique is the key. Have fun

Re: any swimmers?
What strokes can you do? I think front crawl is best to get a good workout. If you need help with technique, feel free to ask - I actually teach swim lessons.
I only swim in the summer. I find my endurance stays pretty much the same, however. The first few swims of the season, I am little slow, but it comes back relatively quickly. I will say after the first swim, my neck kills me from breathing during front crawl. I usually swim between 800-1600 meters (15-30 minutes). I am sad the season at my pool is over tomorrow I love swimming!
