Any teacher moms with school-aged children?

I know this is a long way off Chat Icon, but how did you deal with sending your child to the first day of school?

I keep thinking about the fact that I won't be the one to put him on the bus for his first day of Kindergrten because I'll be at MY first day of school for my job. It's not like I can call in sick on the first day Chat Icon

What did you do?

I'm not a teacher but my best friend teaches HS Math. She was not there for the first day of school. Her husband put Caelan on the bus and took video. She says that as much as she would have preferred to be there herself.. the fact that she gets to spend the whole summer with them.. not to mention avoid childcare costs on school holidays .. makes it worthwhile.

ETA: She did all the stuff leading UP to the big day and they did a 'special' off the bus celebration.

Again, no experience in this yet, but I know teachers in my district that have come in late that day. It is possible. For us, DH will be home in the morning and I will be there in the afternoon.

You do realize that we switch off the time school starts from year to year right? Chat Icon

Yes I remember that you told me that! Either way, DH is home in the morning until 1030. What time do they get out when they get out early in the afternoon? Chat Icon
