Any tips for finding a new ob?
I just moved to NC, and made an appt to see a new doctor. Last time I saw a dr I was 7 weeks, I am not almost 14 weeks. They made me wait to come in, and then told me that regardless of the fact that I had my records faxed from my previous dr, they still HAVE to do all of the bloodwork over again. I pass out when I have blood drawn, and really have no desire to pass out again. I dont see the point in them re doing the tests that I have already had done, and that they have the results to. So does anyone have any advice on how I should find someone to see? Searching the aetna website is easy, but it doesnt tell me if the dr is good or not, and I dont want to end up in another office full of morons

Re: Any tips for finding a new ob?
I'm in the medical profession and unfortunately most MD's are going to want to repeat the bloodwork over again for safety. Most MD's don't want to make decisions based on bloodwork drawn by someone else, its a liability thing. I know it sounds stupid. Most hospitals, even when a patient is transferred, they don't use the old facilities bloodwork or IV's. So even with little kids they will take out IV's and put in new ones, they don't even care about traumatizing the kid again. It's because of so many lawsuits and medical malpractice suits that MD's are overly cautious. You can try looking at other MD's but I think you will find that most are going to want to repeat the bloodwork again

Re: Any tips for finding a new ob?
That must be the office's policy, because my new ob down here is not making me redo any of the tests.
I was 22 weeks when I had the first visit and they just got to know me and went over my records (I had them sent down from the OB). I go back in dec for the next visit and they are doing a sonogram, I think so they can actually see her.
Maybe look into another office if you are not comfortable with their policy? I would get a jump on, wasn't their a screening test to be done around 15weeks?

I was pretty sure they were supposed to do something at 12 weeks, but they didnt do anything, they actually gave me a pregnancy test...

Really? Is there anyone you can ask at work and see who they used? That is how we found ours, my DH asked the DRs in his office who their wives used.
