Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
I am taking it tomorrow morning.
I haven't had anything sugary today. Going to have a big juicy steak for dinner. Any other ideas about what I can eat?

it doesn't matter in the least.
gd is in your blood....if you have it - you have it and in no way will your food intake affect it - though i know many people claim otherwise....it's that simple.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Exactly. What you eat won't affect the outcome. It's how your body processes the glucose drink.
Just bring something to do because it's BORING, and throw something in your purse to eat right afterwards. I felt like crap after.
Good luck!

Re: Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
Thanks everyone!
To answer Dani's question - you take the one hour test between weeks 24-28 I believe. I failed the one hour test so now I have to go back for the three hour! HTH!

Re: Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
Just eat what you normally eat & bring something good to read. It's not something you want to "fake" passing. I'm assuming if you have GD, you want that diet asap.
I've failed the 1 hour twice & passed the 3 hour both times. Were your numbers boderline?
Good luck tomorrow!

Re: Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
I was told to fast before the 3 hour glucose both times I took it. Drink water before you go unless you have been told not too.
Bring something to read. Also, ask if there is any place you can lie down and go! I didn't take them up on it when they offered and someone else was there when I needed it.
Pack something to eat for when you leave like a banana, apple or granola bar. I was pretty shaky from not eating and the drink.

Re: Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
I brought lots to read - DH also went with me for entertainment...
Like they said above - it's not something you can "cheat" nor would you want to. Just do things as normal, fast 12 hours before.
ETA: Good luck!

Re: Any tips for the 3 hr glucose test
Unfortunately it doesn't really matter what you eat before b.c you either have it or you don't - it is hormonal.
Bring lots to do that three hours seems like a LONG time. Also make sure you bring a snack and something to drink right afterwards b.c they told me both times to make sure I ate something right away.
Good luck! With Kaitlyn I failed the 1 hour by A LOT!!! But passed the 3 hour with good numbers. With Madelyn I barely failed the one hour and barely failed the 3 hours (they have new guidelines so my OB told me I would have passed had I taken the test with the old guidelines (I only failed the fasting by 3 or 4 points and the 1 hour draw by 1 pt.). So I was considered borderline. I was able to easily control it with some small changes to my diet.
