Any tricks for getting liquid medicine into an infant's mouth and it staying down?
This new medicine isn't going great so far - he just completely spit out the entire thing so I tried a second dose - no go. The one this morning stayed in, even though he wasn't happy, because I aimed towards his cheek. This one I sort of did right in the middle and it wasn't successful. Should I stay towards the cheek?

Always towards the cheek, even towards the back of the mouth if you can

Towards the cheek, far back w/the syringe
I'm giving amoxicillin to my DD and it was a fight in the beginning, and now less of a fight

That's what I thought, but I guess I thought since this med is specifically to coat his esophagus, that I should aim right down the middle

DS is on antibiotics for an ear infection and he does great as long as we give it before his bottle (i.e. when he is hungry).

towards the cheek.
If that doesn't work, they make a plunger/pacifier thing that we used.http://www.amazon.com/Medicine-Dispenser-Pacifier-Children-Infants/dp/B000NVPMFO

Thanks for the advice. I can't mix this one with formula - has to be on empty stomach - at least half hour after bottle. Four times a day - prob for a few months.
Upright or slightly inclined - which is better/easier to have them when giving the meds?

Def on an incline. it's much easier.. I stick the paci in his mouth after. It forces him to swallow it.

We put it towards the cheek and have a pacifier ready.
You can also try putting it in the nipple of a bottle and letting DC suck it out of the bottle.

Re: Any tricks for getting liquid medicine into an infant's mouth and it staying down?
I learned this trick from my ped: Right after putting the medicine in his mouth, gently blow on his face. This will make him hold his breath for a split second, and then he'll need to swallow right after. Works every time!

What we've found works is to stick it deep in his mouth along his cheek. Then we do a small squirt and quickly pop the bottle in as a chaser. Then another little squirt then the bottle... And if possible, get flavored medicine!
