Any vbac Moms
Hi, O.k., So since will will be working on baby #2 in the not too distant future, I have some questions.
Did any of you have a vbac? Pros/cons Was it better/worse than the c-section? Recovery- better/worse?? Where you worried about the baby's safety? Which Dr./Hospital?
Any info/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tara

I just did this past May. I had my first child exactly 2 years before I had my daughter. They are both May babies.
I had to have a c/s with my first because he was breech. My water broke at 37.5 weeks and I had a c/s.
I got pregnant again when he was 15 months old and was determined to VBAC. After discussing it with my doctor, he saw no reason why I couldn't.
The reasons to be a good candidate for a VBAC vary - most importantly, why did you have a c/s in the first place? Was it failure to progress? etc. Of course, my doctor told me there is a small chance for uterine rupture, but that is soooo small, so while I thought about it, I didn't let it consume me. Also, to VBAC, you MUST go into labor on your own, you can not be induced. My doctor did monitor the size of my baby too, he said if she started to get bigger than 8 lbs., we may have looked to a repeat c/s.
The recovery from my VBAC was BY FAR a million times easier. And I had a very good c/s recovery and would not have minded if I needed another one.
During my labor ane delivery, not once did I think of the baby's safety. I mean, yes, I wanted everything to be ok, but I was just determined to push my hardest and get her out!
I delivered her at Winthrop and I can tell you that every nurse congratulated me and said its rare, that most doctors don't advocate it. I am glad mine did.
It's late and I am sure I am leaving a ton of stuff out, so if you have any more questions, just send me a FM and I'll answer them for you.

Me too! I always say this but I have VBAC envy with Trish's VBAC. I was hoping for one and my OB was very pro VBAC but I ended up with a second breech so my 3rd child was another c/s.
Good luck when the time comes, it would be awesome if it works out for you.
