Any working moms whose DH is a teacher?
Can we say bitter....party of one?
So I'm in Toronto right now on business and I sent DH a text that said "Good morning. Happy Last Day. Love you" and his response is " you too, except of the last day thing."
Thanks honey. Rub it in that you have the summer off and I don't. Seriously, this is probably going to be so hard for me not to be bitter about it. I've coached myself about it. I've mentally prepared myself. But now all I am starting to feel is resentment because i'm so jealous.
On one hand I'm happy he will get to spend a lot of one on one time with DS. But I still made the decision to have Matthew in daycare 2 half days just for socialization (because I know DH won't take him on playdates or anything like that). Plus, he needs to return to daycare in September so I didn't want him to get too far removed. But all in all my DH is going to have LOTS of time to himself. THe two half days Matthew is in Daycare PLUS thursday and most of Friday when MIL watches him. And me? Nothing! Nada. Just my normal stressful job.
This is just a vent. Feeling sorry for myself. In the end I am so fortunate that one of us gets to spend this time with DS. I think it will be good for DS and DH. Just wish it were me. Carry on! And thanks for listening!

I am glad that we are both teachers. I would definitely resent him if I wasn't also off all summer.

My DH is a teacher too but I am a SAHM. However before I had Matthew I worked and I remember how DH used to always rub it in how he was off all summer. Yes I wanted to get a frying pan and hit him in the head...
Now of course it's the opposite because I am a SAHM and I now look forward to him being home all summer and he is looking forward to spending more time with Matty...

Re: Any working moms whose DH is a teacher?
yeah, this all worked out perfectly last summer when we were both off during my maternity leave (although the first two week of July when I was 9 months pregnant royally stunk as i trudged to the office most days while he was sleeping).
Matthew's going to be just fine. Like I said, I think it is great that he gets to spend a lot of one on one time with his daddy. It's me I worry about and whether or not I can learn to accept this or let my jealousy get the better of us. We'll see. I think I really just need a break. And for some reason have visions of DH thinking that he is on vacation and doesn't need to do anything else but watch the baby. And then the rest of the time is purely his. GRRRRR
