One of my friends does this. IMHO I wouldn't recommend it until your DH is tenured. Its a LOT of work and some of the parents can be kind of intense.

I've had friends who have done it (most not by choice) and I agree with the other posters. Def would not do it if not tenured. If your husband works in a "typical" LI school district or competitive NYC hs, parents will be very intense and up your azz. My friend who did it at my previous hs in NY (very upper-class, one of the top districts on LI) had parents calling screaming everyday, coming down to school, setting up meetings with principal why their child was not accepted.
