Anybody every use Flips Gymnastics in Smithtown? Or can you suggest somewhere else?

DD has been going to Gold Medal in Centereach the whole past year. I went this week to sign her up again, and was told that every class is full, except Weds at 4pm. DD is not even home from school at that time, so...no.

They asked if I want to put her on a waiting list. They said that they are training new staff and will be opening more classes soon. So I said, well then you'll just be shoving more kids into an already full gym, where there will just be more confusion and chaos? And the girl shrugged and said yes. So we're not doing that either! I wasl already looking for somewhere else since I found the place to be overcrowded and chaotic all summer. I let it go figuring it was just the summer, but when I looked into the gym this week, it was no better.

I just really felt that Gold Medal was all about just making money hand over fist...with no real regard for teaching the "regular" girls anything. DD is never going to be an olympic gymnast, but I'd like her to be able to do some stuff, and she went all year without being able to do a cartwheel. She learned more by practicing them this summer outside with her cousin.

So now I'm looking into sending her somewhere else. Smithtown is as far as I can realistically go, as it will take almost 30 minutes to get there with traffic. Or can anybody suggest somewhere else?

I went to an open house at gymnest. The place was awesome. Check it out, its in Bellport. A little pricey though. We have also been to eastern gym in nesconset which was good. A big gym with alot of things in there. DD's class was small. Staff was nice. We are currently at julies gym. A little more of the "fun" aspect but her BFF is there and she is just loving it. Eventually we are going to gymnest.

DD goes to Gym-nest in Medford. It's a great gym. DD had 5 girls in her class last year, so she got great one on one attention.

I haven't tried it, but there is a place called Spins on Bicycle Path in Port Jeff.

If you like Gold Medal and are wiling to go to Smithtown, they just opened one in Smithtown. Not sure if they are all full yet, but worth a shot.mi have heard great things!

Gold medal just opened in Smithtown as well, and my neighbor sends her girls there. They seem to really like it and she seems very happy with it as well (and she is pretty particular - in a good way).

My personal opinion on Flips is that they have been around forever and the owner isn't into it anymore. It has been for sale for quite some time.

You might want to check out Artistic in Hauppauge too - should be the same distance from you - just down 347 instead of Jericho.

We've attended Flips, Gold Medal and Eastern.

They found Flips to be fun, but not that instructional. Eastern was the least oriented to little kids but they did seem to have more of a focus on actually learning gymnastics.

I was hoping Gold Medal would be a blend of the two above - with the fun and the focus. But I don't see that yet...

They're currently at Gold Medal (smithtown), but the place is chaotic. I think the classes are too big, parking lot is too small, and I see more waiting around than learning.
