Anybody know anything about Port Authority fines?

Last night we accidentally blew the toll at the Lincoln tunnel (we got in the easy pass lane)

So I know there will be a fine, anybody know how much?

Why don't you call them and give them your plate number. Tell them it was an accident. Maybe they will be nice and not charge you any additional penalties?

I would call and tell them. Get your EZ pass out of the car because you will have a number on the back. Tell them there wasn't any PO around to help either. Your battery probably went dead and that is why it didn't work.

I did this coming home from NJ going over the Goethals bridge. We didn't have EZ pass, but we went into that lane and then it was too late.

Months later we received an invoice for the amount of the toll plus a $15 fee for the violation that was waived because it was our first offense.

I did that once, I got a bill for the fee plus a $25 fine

Funny story....DH and I were driving back from Florida...it was like 2 am. We had flown down, and drove back a car that his parents gave us. We stopped at Newark Airport to pick up my car...we are both driving and we get to the turnpike exit...I had ezpass on my car...but he didn't have ezpass on the new car that we were driving. So...I go through, thinking he went to the cash lane...but there were no lights on any lanes except ezpass...so he goes through the ezpass lane and realizes we are going to get a ticket. He stops the car...gets out and goes looking for a toll attendant...nobody to be found. So, DH goes downstairs, underground to find a supervisor...he tells him there are no open lanes. The supervisor was like...duh, sorry. So, DH makes the supervisor write him a note to say it was his fault that DH went through the ezpass lane. I was so scared...he was gone for like 15 minutes...I couldn't see anything...and there was no way I was getting out of my car at 2 am to go looking for DH. I thought he got hit by a truck or something

Lo and behold...a few weeks later we get a fine in the mail...the toll plus a $25 processesing fee. So...we take the note signed by the supervisor, and attach the check for $1.10 (or whatever it was) and send it to the Port Authoriy...never heard from them again
