I did. Get yourself a baby food book. I used Super Baby Food. It was VERY easy.

You can literally take a banana and mush it up with a fork. You can steam some carrots and mash them. let me know if you have specific questions.

I have. Once he moved up to stage 2 foods, I made more than i bought. I have the cuisinart miniprep and pureed steamed everything. i like it because I can control the texture.

I didn't but wanted to share this tip - not sure if this is common since I never made my own:

My friend used to make hers using leftovers (steamed veggies, etc), used her food processor & then freeze using an ice tray.

Thanks for the info....
At what age did you introduce the homemade food? We just started our first cereal (she is 6 months).
Thanks

Re: anybody make their own baby food?

Yep...I froze her food in ice cube trays then transferred the cubes to a ziplock freezer bag.

Super Baby Food book is a great reference guide. There are also a TON of make your own baby food websites.

You introduce homemade food the same way you do any new food...very slowly and over serveral days before moving on to a new food.

I did sweet pototoes, peas, carrots, banannas, melons, squash, a variety of beans...anything you want.

Re: anybody make their own baby food?

I do. I started off with Anabell Karmel Fist Meals

It has a lot of info on nutritional needs, which food to introduce first etc etc. Very informative.

At first I followed the recipes exactly but now i don't anymore and just let my imagination run wild, sort of speak. I buy all organic fruit and veggies at Farmers Markets or Whole Foods store and just combine 3 ingredients and puree. Now I also do organic chicken and egg yoks.

This book also tells you what you need to prepare food, which is really just a steamer and a bleander. ( I have a small one that I bough in one of the baby stores, very convenient and easy to clean and store)
