Anybody work for CableVision?
Anybody work for CableVision? I was just looking at their website and the career section. Does anyone here work for Cablevision or know of anyone that works for cablevision? Is it a good place to work? Do they treat their employees good? Thanks, Scott

Re: Anybody work for CableVision?
My wife likes it. The benefits are very good (besides the free cable of course).
Their medical plan is great. If you make under a certain salary... they pay for your medical 100% (nothing is taken out of your paycheck - even for a family plan with kids).
They also allow you to freely apply to other jobs within the company and work your way up (as long as you are at your current position for I believe 12-18 months).

Re: Anybody work for CableVision?
my SIL and my aunt work for them- my SIL used to work in the Melville office(think that's the town) now she's out in Riverhead(close to home). great benefits! I guess she likes her job better now that she's not in customer service otherwise I'd have to ask her what her pos/neg's are

I'd have to ask her specifically- maybe it was more that she did it for a long time and she had a long commute! My aunt seems to like it!

My wife used to work in customer service... yeah it isn't the greatest since the customers are usually in the bytchin mood. But Customer Serivce may not be a bad place to start off at since you can move to a different department after 18 months.
I'll send you a FM Scott.

Re: Anybody work for CableVision?
My friend works for them and for like 10 years. He absolutely loves it, the bad thing is though when you are hired entry level, they usually lay you off after 3 months. From what he has told me ( he has to fire them and that he hates). He is currently in the Melville office and he does some type of computer/software work for the company.

Re: Anybody work for CableVision?
I worked for them about 8-10 years ago. I have to say that when it came to benefits it was the best company that I worked for.
This was when they first moved into Stewart Avenue. They had the best Christmas parties. When they bought The WIz they gave us all a $250 gift cert for Christmas plus 2 weeks pay plus whatever we got from our department heads. Had department parties 2x a year. (Christmas and a summer team outing).
I only left the company cause due to modern tech they reduced my department by half and I was one of the newest (being there 3 years) so I was laid off along with 12 others.
