Anyone a home party consultant?
My DH and I could use some extra cash, so I just signed on to be a Lia Sophia Consultant. I just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with any home party consultant business and what your feedback was. Was it worth it, decent money for the time and effort? Im not looking for it to support us, just for some extra cash. Plus I liked the option of not having to work a 2nd job at night, and have to be there 3 nights and week and one weekend day, I can do this as often as Id like.
Just wanted to see if any other moms had feedback.

No problem, what are you thinking of doing the parties for?

One of my girlfriends sells Tastefully Simple. She too has a full time job and does it for extra money. She says she does well and loves the flexibility. She used to sell Lia Sophia, but is happier with this company. Not sure why. I could get more info if you'd like. Good Luck to you!

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
No experience as a mom doing it but I did sell Partylite candles years ago. It was fun and fairly simple. A little nerve wracking for me, being a shy person with strangers but it was okay. I turned a decent profit back then.
I've been to a few Lia Sophia parties and the stuff kind of sells itself but I must say, one trick that the consultant did that I thought was helpful... some pieces had multiple ways of wearing, like a long necklace looped around twice or some kind of secret clasp. That seemed to get a lot of ooohs and ahhhs and attention.
Good luck!

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
I did At Home America and while I think they had great stuff for the home I found it was hard to get anyone interested in doing the parties because nobody wanted to be bothered. Aside from that, even when I did a party people usually spent $15-40 total so after all the time and effort the commission really wasn't worth it at all.

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
I do Tupperware (haven't done it much since DD#2 was born though). I found it to be great for extra cash. Several of the women I work with do it as their sole income (they are the 2nd earners in their family). They love it b/c of the flexibility too. One lady actually gave up a teaching position to do Tupperware only b/c of the flexibility, and b/c it would have cost her too much for daycare for 2 children so she actually takes home more money doing Tupperware part-time. The main reason I don't do it that much anymore is b/c I still have to work full-time as a pharmacist so having a new baby and a 3-year old, and a FT job it was just too much. But if that is all you are doing I think it is definately worth it. If you're interested, please FM me -- I can give you more specifics on $$. I'll help you however I can and put you in touch with someone who can really give you a jumpstart.

I was a lia sophia rep. Wasnt a bad "job", but they push really hard to make you book at least 6 parties a month, to me it was just too much. I mean the parties themselves are easy, pretty much sell them selves, but to pester and badger people I couldnt handle it.
I was also a pampered chef consultant, same thing, pushing you to book 5-6 parties a month. The main reason I got into them was because of the "work when you want to work" mentality they try to sell you on.

C'mon!!! Granted, I must have subconsciously known I was going to have my baby that night so wanted to get all my errands done that day, but you think I scheduled that wagon pick up when no one was home on accident?!

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
Hello...I do home parties...not the jewelery or home stuff kind...but home parties non the less I do them as a supplement to my full time income and I love it because it is that extra money that I use for things like: b-day gifts, Christmas, date nights, girls weekends etc...I call it my ME money! haha My company is great as far as you decide how many parties you throw, I actually carry stock to the parties with me, so although it may seem like a hassle at times, it is good because I don't have to pack anything up after the party and ship it. I feel like when women see what they want they spend more money. I make 40% of the sales for the night. I currently don't have any children. FM if you need more info.

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
I did Pampered Chef. It was fun for a time, but everyone wanted parties on the weekends and I wasn't willing to give up family time.
IMO it wasn't worth the $$. I put in a lot of hours, and didn't get a lot of $$ back. And I was a top performer!! If you look at all the time that goes into prepping for, doing, and then cleaning up and placing orders for a show (say 5 hours), and you made maybe $200 -- nope, not worth it to me.

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
I do Cookie Lee. It is not my full time job, I have another full time job. I'm just starting and I am trying to break out of the friends only hostesses, b/c I don't want to wear them out. I enjoy it, but I am doing it to meet people as well as make money as I am new to the area.

Re: Anyone a home party consultant?
I sell Mary Kay. I decided to get into it because I used the products and loved them. I’ve been doing it for about a year- and I have a full time job. For me, it doesn’t generate A LOT of extra income to make a difference- but its more of an escape for me since I do love it very much.
My mom sells Pampered Chef. She’s been doing it for about 5 years. She loves it- and has a full time job too. She has no kids living at home anymore, so other than my father, its not really taking her time away from anyone. She does VERY well with it.
A major difference between MK and PC is that with PC, you get an actual commission check- and with MK, you buy the products at half price from MK, and when you make a sale, you keep the money. To me, it’s a little bit more difficult to manage. I would rather have a check.
Good luck!!
