Anyone a member of LA fitness or NYSC??
Looking for some feedback on either. Pros, cons ? Having a hard time deciding.

I belong to Smithtown NYSC. I LOVE it. It's clean, big, has tons of equipment, a full class schedule (though I dont really take them) and is super convenient for me. I trhought LA fitness was too crowded when I visited there

I haven't tried LA Fitness but I'm a NYSC member looking for a new gym. Their classes aren't doing it for me and they seem to be taking them away, not adding any.

I belong to LA Fitness. We were members about 2 years ago and rejoined in November.
I think they are clean, offer good classes and they have babysitting.
I usually go to the Farmingdale or Lindenhurst location so my feedback is based on those.

I haven't been to either, but in case you didn't know, LA fitness recently bought many Bally Fitness clubs and plans to close some of them which means many Bally customers will end up at La Fitness and I believe they're letting Bally customers from locations that didn't close use La Fitness locations as well. My Dad just started going to La Fitness instead of Ballys and he said it was really crowded.

I've been a member at both gyms in the past. LA Fitness has more to offer and is the better value, IMO. For $49 you can't beat it - a million machines, yoga classes, spin studio, regular studio, pool, hot tub, basketball courts....I had a trainer for $90/month - 1x week. it was great!
However, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the classes. There was one really good spin instructor on Saturday mornings and I would have to get to class an hour early because they don't do advance sign up (phone ahead or online) - the class would fill in five minutes. NYSC lets you do that. NYSC also has TVs on all the machines which is nice.

The LAF in Farmingdale started with getting a number for the spin classes at the beginning of the month. The gym has been crowded the last few days because of all the people and their resolutions. It will die down in a month or so when everyone falls off the wagon.
The LAF in Farmingdale and Lindenhurst all the cardio machines also have individual TVs.
I take kickboxing and zumba at both and enjoy the classes.

With any gym, if you use the facilities and programs, it's great otherwise, a pair of running shoes is all you need, even an at-home fitness programs like P90X will help you with your fitness goals.
Plan your work and work your plan.
