Anyone a military wife or someone who's DH has no choice but to travel for work?
DH may be getting a job offer soon that may make him travel for 1 month for training the month before I am due (he would return 2 weeks before my due date). I was wondering how some have handled this...being alone and very PG? Right now we live kinda far from family, but since we are looking for a new place anyway, we are reconsidering moving closer to friends/family for a year if only because of this. I am really nervous about being w/ out him so close to the end, but we need this job. Any advice? Anyone go through this? Its survivable right?

Hey there!
Yes it's survivable! I promise! lots of my friends have done i! I was a military wife the first 8 years i was married. My best friends husband deployed 2 weeks after she found out when she was pregnant. Her DH got home 12 hours before her got home. What are your major worries? Labor w/o D? or how to promote bonding while he is away??? There are lots of tips and tricks to help you keep your sanity. :)

I think you will be fine, but you need to move closer to your family and me. LOL It is going to be hard on you since, the last few weeks of PG are hard on the body. If you at least have everyone close by, you can have someone come over and help you if you need it. Since it is your first baby, you most likely won't go early. If you where to go early, could DH come home? Or would he be very far away? If you guys think this will be a great opportunity then I think you both can make it through. FM!

My main worry is going into labor in the middle of the night and being by myself. The delivery too...although DH was told that if I go into labor he could be on the first flight home. Assuming Ryan isn't too overly eager, DH may have time to get there before delivery. Other things that concern me is taking care of things that DH was taking care of because they were too physically demanding for me: ie bringing in groceries, things that require a lot of bending, etc. DH will be back once I am 38 weeks. This is only for job training.

Re: Anyone a military wife or someone who's DH has no choice but to travel for work?
My DH travels every week for work - he's usually gone early Tuesday morning through late Thursday night. Every 4 weeks, he's gone for a week. While he's gone, all of the household responsibility falls on me - laundry cleaning, taking care of the dog, etc. I've gotten so used to it, but I'm worried about how it's going to be with the baby and him being gone so often. My OB told him that he needs to stop traveling around September 1st just in case I go earlier than my due date. I do have family on the Island, but they're about a 45 minute drive from where we live.
I know it's not exactly the same as being a military wife or having him be gone for months at a time, but still.....
Hang in there - it's totally doable!
