I'm not a rep but I'm on building committee and am friendly with the reps. In my district, I think they get paid $1,500. They attend building committee meetings and exec board meetings every two weeks. They type up minutes from these meetings. They also meet with the principal prior to building committee, talk to principal if he/she is going against the contract, and is available to answer questions from union members.

I am a union rep. I think the responsibilities vary by school. But I usually take notes on meetings, make fliers to communicate with the teachers and fill the soda machine and handle the profits. Otherwise we do things together, plan the end of the year retiree party and things like that. We have meetings 2x/month with the reps from all buildings and the officers.
