Anyone "almost" get pulled over this holiday season?
A unmarked cop in a car scared the crap out of me tonight. He pulls up next to me, flashes his flashlight at me, tells me to pull down the window.
Tells me that I just passed a bus with blinking lights which have been on for awhile. Says it's a $480 ticket and 6 points on your license! I look around really quick, yet, kind of frozen from shock. Saw NO bus. The bus must be have half way down a perpendicular street.
cops lets me go (thank you cop and thank you G-O-D!) but I went home and cried b/c I was so scared and confused. arghhhhhhhh

I always get scared seeing unmarked cars, if I was stopped by one I would never completely roll the window down and never shut off the ignition. There are a few of those imposter police stories every year and it scares me.

Re: Anyone "almost" get pulled over this holiday season?
I got pulled over about a week ago on my way to my parents. Apparently I did stop long enough at the stop sign. But I hand him DH's SBA card and he told me to be careful, because there are kids in this nieghborhood. I just want to know where was this cop all summer long when my paren't nieghbor's were doin 70+ down the block

I told my boss not to call me on my personal phone anymore and he did it one more time...... I got pulled over for talking on my cell phone in the work truck. I gave the ticket to my boss.

Re: Anyone "almost" get pulled over this holiday season?
Here's some info I found about unmarked police cars:
Lt. Shannon Trice, of the Syracuse Police Department's traffic division, said drivers must indeed pull over for an unmarked vehicle.
"This is a common misconception because the state police . . . will not pull you over in an unmarked vehicle," Trice wrote.
State police Lt. Tom Fayle, of Troop D in Oneida, said troopers "do not use unmarked vehicles to stop motorists for offenses related to V&T law, except in exigent (urgent or critical) circumstances."
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office has unmarked cars and uses them for traffic stops, said Sgt. John D'Eredita.
Trice said drivers who want to be sure an unmarked vehicle is legit can do several things - choose an area to stop that is well populated and lighted; ask for credentials; call 911 as you are being stopped to verify that it's a police officer. (911 will call the officer over the police radio to verify and pass that on to the motorist.)

Re: Anyone "almost" get pulled over this holiday season?
it's not holiday related, but i once had a cop pull me over for going thru a yellow light. He said it was red. I swear, it wasn't but I wasn't going to fight with him.
Anyway, he pulls me over and calls me out of the car with a bull horn as if I'm some sort of criminal. He took my license and told me to go wait in my car. Then he used the bull horn again to get me out of the car. At this point I was crying and when I went to take my license he goes, very nicely and innocently, "why are you crying."
I was shaking after that. (Fortunately, I didn't get a ticket.)
