Anyone around Franklin Square?

Hello everyone this is my first post on this site, just curious if anyone lives around F.S we're in the process of moving out there and it would be nice to get some info on the area. Recommendation for restaurants, movie theater?

Re: Anyone around Franklin Square?

I lived there with my parents before moving out to Farmingdale. There is a movie theater on hempstead tpke just west of the intersection of hempstead tpke and franklin avenue. It is small but it works if you don't feel like traveling to roosevelt field mall. Alpine Garden Restaurant is in the area of the movie theater on franklin avenue, very reasonably priced. Prince Umberto is good on hempstead tpke. There's alot of places to go. Just go up and down hempstead tpke and franklin avenue, you'll find something you like.

I grew up there. Clydesdales is very good (on the tpke) and I always liked Pizza Tonight on Dogwood Ave. For Chinese/Japanese we'd go to Jani. The movie theatre is fine and there is parking in the back. We used to get haircuts at Brittany and Co. by Christine (sister is Heidi who does nails downstairs). And then there is A & S for bagels!!! Where will you be in town?

Re: Anyone around Franklin Square?

I moved to Queens and still go to Jani occasionally for Chinese food if I want to eat at a restaurant. Carmela's has good italian food, especially pizza. And A&S bagels is great too - and I think they are open 24 hours. Ramona Lee had great pastries, but changed hands recently, and I haven't been there since that happened.

We used to go to the movie theater in F.S. when we were growing up, but they divided it up into so many smaller theaters, that it sort of lost the appeal for me. There is a movie theater in Malverne, also a small theater, but they show more of the "art film" type movies.
