Anyone been on Claritin-D?
I went to the pharmacy last night to pick up medicine for post nasal drip and the pharmacist recommended Claritin D which was behind the counter. I took a 24 hour pill around 6:30pm (not knowing side effects) and I was up all night wide awake, and my heart is still racing this morning. I feel like I’m on speed or something it’s awful! Has anyone had this same experience?

Re: Anyone been on Claritin-D?
Sounds like the decongestant. I can’t take anything with D in it because of that.
For post nasal drip, you can use regular Claritin & Flonase nasal spray. Personally, I take 1/2 Zyrtec at bedtime, Flonase in the AM and a 12 hr Claritin in the afternoon. That combo helps my Post Nasal Drip the best.

Re: Anyone been on Claritin-D?
It's the decongestant. It makes me feel terrible and edgy and anxious all day. Pseudoephedrine is a form of ephedrine, that's why. That's also why you have to show ID to buy it...it can be used to free base speed, etc.. I hate it. I would just get plain Claritin and deal with the congestion.

Same! I cannot take anything with D in it as well or anything 24 hours. I'm up all night.
I can do Sudafed in the morning only and 12 hours. Try a nasal spray and Sudafed is good too, but a 12 hour and take first thing in the morning.

Re: Anyone been on Claritin-D?
my mom had the same thing happen. my parents pharmacist friend gave it to her b/c her allergies were pretty bad (turns out its her cats). but she is also on high blood pressure meds so im not sure if those should mix.
she said she was very ill shortly after she took it.

Happened to me once and my doctor told me to never take it again. Also they have Zyrtec D. Anything with the D don’t take.

Re: Anyone been on Claritin-D?
i'm very sensitive to that kind of stuff, but oddly enough Claritin-D is the only stuff that takes care of my allergies. i've tried everything and nothing else helps.

Pseudoephedrine is in sudaphed too, and it was the only thing that worked for my sinuses. I tried other stuff when they moved the good stuff behind counter but it wasn't the same. It used to not bother me, but now it makes me very anxious, so I try to avoid it.Using a saline spray helps.
