Anyone been to Ireland?
DH and I are thinking about going in June. Can anyone recommend a place to stay?
What should we do there?...other than go to pubs
Anything we should avoid doing?
TIA!!!

Lived there for almost 2 years. How long are you planning on going? Do you want to see Dublin, the West Coast or both? I would highly recommend the Cliffs of Mohr and the Dingle Pennisula. If you have any ideas on for your itinerary I would love to help in any way I can.

We actually don't have any plans in mind...we're just starting to look into this.
We definitely want to stay in Dublin...I think I'd feel more comfortable staying in the city...
But, I appreciate any ideas you can give us!

Re: Anyone been to Ireland?
I have been a few times. I love Dublin but I stayed in a hostel (!!). I would also recommend doing a drive around the country and staying at B&Bs. The countryside is so beautiful!! Cliffs of Mohr, Blarney Castle, Aran Islands, the Burren, Ring of Kerry.... That's what I would do more or less, and spend a few nights in Dublin.

Re: Anyone been to Ireland?
I'd recommend a tour- we did a ten day tour with Go Ahead Vacations and saw so much. They take care of all accomodations (nice hotels) and transportation. We were anxious about driving with everything on the other side, didn't want to deal with car rentals and the rail system's not so wonderful. We really had an awesome time- we saw Dublin, Cork, Galway, the Ring of Kerry, Aran Islands, Cliffs of Mohr, and more.
Definitely try to get into the country whatever you do- that's where the scenery is. Dublin's a fun city but small, a week might be too long, IMO. And there are so many lovely little towns that are not to be missed- Kenmare was my favorite.
