Anyone been to Lancaster lately?
I'm taking a road trip this weekend with DH and FIL to Lancaster and I haven't been there since I was a little kid(and I'm not exactly bursting with excitement over this trip, though DH and his Dad are), anyway I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations... good shopping, restaurants, etc. Thanks!
Oh and we don't have kids, so we'll be skipping Dutch Wonderland.

Re: Anyone been to Lancaster lately?
I love Lancaster. There are all the outlets of course, the Rockvale and Tanger ones. I like to take a side trip to the Amish village called Kitchen Kettle which is in Intercourse. They have great jellys, jams, relishes, and all kinds of pies and goodies. There aren't too many choices for restaurants. I like the Texas Steakhouse, which is a chain restaurant. Miller's Smorgasboard is great for brunch or dinner (it's a reallly large buffet) and should not be missed. About a 15 minute drive away is another buffet in a resort called Willow Valley which is beautiful. And if you want the authentic Amish experience, eat at Good and Plenty. Have fun!

LOVE lancaster!! We spent a weekend there and DH proposed!!
Anyway, shopping is great there!! Also, if you get a chance try to have dinner at good n' plenty. Its a family style type of restaurant. The food is cooked by the amish so it fresh and fattening. Hershey park is about 45 minutes away

Re: Anyone been to Lancaster lately?
I went to college in Lancaster. There was a nice restaurant I think called "Market Fare". THere is also a Farmer's Market that is AWESOME!!! They sell all fresh breads, pies, canned goods - everything homemade by the Amish
Also, the restaurant Eat - n - Park is also really good. It is sort of like a diner - so it's not fancy at all. Cheap and great breakfasts!!! It was definitely partly responsible for the Freshman 10 I gained
The Tanger outlets there are great also! I miss them!

IS IT REALLY 4.5 HOURS??? Uggghhh. I am going with my dh, 4 year old son, and 12 month old son in July. We are going to Dutch Wonderland...I'm sure you will NOT be!! We have never been there either. We are staying at Bird-In-Hand. Sounds sooooooooooo corny but looks soooooo cute online.
Hope you have a GREAT time. I will look for your reviews when you get back!!
