Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

How did you go about finding out information on the house? (In this case, there's no family to even ask.)

The cesspool is a concern b/c we don't know the age - if it was ever pumped, replaced, etc.

Re: Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

So how did you go about finding out the age of everything? If things were updated, etc?

Re: Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

The age of the house? or the updates? The realtor told us the information, and what we didnt know I found on line at mynassauproperties.com

The realtor is my neighbor - he was friends with the man that lived in my house for 35 years. The man that lived there past away last february, and then his son finished the upstairs, painted the interior of the house and put in new carpet. We looked at the house in july and closed on it in september.

My house wasnt an original house. The kitchen was redone 9 years ago and extended. The boiler is about 10 years old. The upstairs was finished in 2004, and the exterior of the house has new siding and newer anderson windows.

Re: Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

The age of the house is easy I was more concerned with the age of the cesspool. The cac and boiler are easier to determine but the cesspool is a concern.

We know the person next door but he has limited knowledge.

Re: Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

Who are you buying the house from? The family? Would they know? Maybe there are papers for the cesspool in the house that might have some info as to when it was changed?

Re: Anyone Buy an Estate Sale?

The Executor is selling the house on behalf of those who are inheriting the money from the sale of said house. The homeowner was the last in her family...she was the original owner of the house (built in 1952) and never lived with anyone. Apparently she didn't keep anything she deemed as "unnecessary" so there is no paperwork.

I guess it will just be a "wait and see" process Chat Icon Chat Icon
