Anyone currently "looking" for a house???
We are searching in NJ but right now -- there isnt much inventory. We are only looking in one town, but I definitely thought there would be more than is out there...?? I'm kinda confused as it is almost May!
How is it in your neck of the woods?

We just found something, but had been looking for a few months.
I've noticed more new listings lately in our area - North shore Suffolk

Well, we are still in our condo so no rush. Offered on two places and pulled back twice --- but that was back in the winter (one didn't drop far enough, the other had water damage).
Just surprised and was wondering what the market is like elsewhere.
ETA: We've been looking since December!

Re: Anyone currently "looking" for a house???
Hi Lisa! We are under contract on a home in NJ. We found the same thing. In our price range there wasn't a whole lot on the market in the areas we targeted. We keep questioning the whole "buyers market" scenario, because we haven't seen it in Essex. If I decent house pops on to the market (few and far between) they sell very quickly and generally around asking and in some cases way over asking.
Where in NJ are you looking??
Good luck in your search! Jill

I remember --- I was wondering how your deck situation worked out?
It's sort of similar, except a lot of houses are going for under their asking. It's the lack of inventory I can't get over!

I am having deck nightmares, lol.
We have decided to bite the bullet and move forward without the deck permits. For the time being we will pay to have the additional deck supports added and as soon as our budget allows we will probably just knock down the deck and start from scratch. The selleres did not budge a centimeter on price. but we still feel we are getting a good deal.
Keep your head up. I am sure as we enter May more homes will come on the market!

We're in NJ too and we've found a lot of houses in the areas we were looking at. The house we're buying is in Mercer county. Maybe it depends on the price range you're looking in? I've noticed some ranges definitely have more inventory than others.

Re: Anyone currently "looking" for a house???
We are in Westchester and it seems that the market is really busy. There are a lot of houses on the market now near us.
