Anyone deal with Herniated and bulging Disc(s) while pregnant...
Well my 1st official post to "out myself" I've been lurking since I found out...I am almost 10 weeks so I guess I can start "legitimately" post on here now! In Dec I will be a mommy of 3 (YIKES)
SO to make a long story short - I have had back issues...and before I got the BFP - I had the pain at bay. I recently just finished up Physical therapy was off the meds (muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatory) for months now..and was feeling good..
BUT THEN...this pregnancy had a rough start wasnt sure it was a viable one..so I was scared to do any exercises and now I am regretting that!
I am in so much pain...AND I am only 10 weeks..I can only imagine what it is going to feel as I get more "top heavy"
ANYONE go through this how did you manage??? any tip would GREATLY be appreciated!!
Thanks!

Re: Anyone deal with Herniated and bulging Disc(s) while pregnant...
I have 3 herniated discs. Before I got pregnant, I went for 3 epidural shots....shooting pain down my right leg.
I was fine until 2 weeks ago, where the pain is now down my left leg
The best thing I do is sleep with pillows between my knees, and use an ice pack, since you cannot use a heating pad. Take baths; the water makes you buoyant and loosens you (don't make the water to hot though).
I was just on a cruise last week, and those beds KILLED me. Also, the lounge chairs, couldn't lay out because I couldn't get back up!
I was told to 'hold off' on trying for kids, but hearing that made me more depressed. I just try to relax and stretch and walk when I can, and rest when I can.
The doctor mentioned a chiropractor that was pregnant friendly, but I have never been to one, only did PT.

Re: Anyone deal with Herniated and bulging Disc(s) while pregnant...
I had a herniated disc and bad sciatica. I had to do a lot of stretching, slept with a pillow between my legs and iced my back.
That was worse pain than giving birth. I feel for you.
BTW Congratulations!!!!

Re: Anyone deal with Herniated and bulging Disc(s) while pregnant...
Not preggo but dealing with this now. Apparently I developed a disc herniation due to my pregnancy (dd is 6 months). It has gotten so bad that I am at the point where I am starting epidural shots. If that doesn't work it is off to the Neurosurgeon I go to discuss surgery. I have never had back issues in my life so this is all new to me and I am miserable. Nothing is working, no drug, no physical therapy, not even a round of oral steroids. I can't imagine being in this pain AND being pregnant. Maybe you should think about trying the chiropractor. Hopefully yours will not get worse after the pregnancy like mine did. Good luck
