anyone doing anything to get ready for Daylight Savings Time in a few weeks?
last fall, DS was only 4 months old when we turned back the clocks and it didn't affect him at all.
this year is a different story. he's typically up at around 6:30am which means he'll be up at 5:30 once DST hits.
i know the theory of "early to bed, late to rise" but is anyone doing anything over the next 2/3 weeks to prepare DC for it? DS is 15 months old.
i was thinking of slowly pushing up his bedtime from 8pm to closer to 7pm, but that will mean he'll be going to bed at 6pm for DST which will NOT work for us. plus i don't know that going to bed earlier will actually help. should i start pushing it back to like 8:30/9?
what are you all doing? what have you done in the past?

Nah. I wake DD up at 6 so we can get out of the house on time. On the weekends she sleeps till 730 so I think she will be fine after a day or two if it even effects her at all.

i have been wondering the same thing... since ds is usually up at 6 am... what i have been doing is letting him play in the crib at 6am and refuse to get up prior to 630 am... and the past few days he fell back asleep til 715...so i am hoping that this will work enough to help... the thought of waking at 5am makes me cringe

We have always tried and it failed. But this past Spring I kept him up longer than usual for the few weeks before the clock change because we had a wedding that weekend and knew he would be up longer, and with the time change, even longer. He was the ring bearer so we did our best.
He didn't seem to even notice. (That time change he was 18 months.)

we never did anything, we just put him to bed at the regular time by the clock and he adjusted on his own. Remember, they are just people like us and it takes a little while to adjust and get reacclimated but you do.

Re: anyone doing anything to get ready for Daylight Savings Time in a few weeks?
My DD didn't notice the time change last fall or this past spring so I'm not really even worrying about. Worse comes to worse she's off for a day but I think she'll be fine.

Hmmmm... this is strange.. I did not realize this was coming up. I wonder if DS is preparing himself??? Lately he's been pushing his 8:45p/9:00p bedtime to 9:30/9:45p and waking up at 7ish instead of 6ish. Odd.
Wasn't planning on doing anything specific. We'll just see how it goes.

Re: anyone doing anything to get ready for Daylight Savings Time in a few weeks?
At first i thought I should slowly move DS's bed time from 6 to 7 pm but I checked my book the other day and it said don't do anything just continue with your regular routine and put them to bed at their regular time once the time changes. So once the time changes he'll be tired at 5 pm instead of 6. I think I'll just try and get him until at least 5:30 to go to bed and then slowly back up to 6 again (new time) Dunno if that made ANY sense....lol
