Anyone donate their wedding dress?
I've been thinking about donating my wedding dress. I have looked into several organizations that I am considering, but I just can't "pull the trigger" to actually do it. Right after my wedding 4 years ago, I had my dress cleaned and preserved and it has been sitting in the attic ever since, but I am torn about getting rid of it. There is no one in my family that would ever use it in the future. I know someone else could make good use of it, but I am afraid I will "miss" it, miss knowing that it's there - even though I haven't even looked at the box in at least 2 years . Anyone that donated or got rid of your dress - did you ever regret it?

Anyone donate their wedding dress?
i used the fabric of my dress for my kids christening outfits. i wasn't going to save it, because it would have been a waste. my dress was used 3x, and even though I am no longer married, it was the best money i ever spent. my DD especially appreciates the fact that the christening gown she wore was the gown mommy wore when she married her daddy and her brother wore when he was christened.

Re: Anyone donate their wedding dress?
Have thought about it but I've been putting that on hold cause if we do have a little girl, I'd love to use my wedding dress to make her a baptism outfit, but if we don't then I'll most likely donate it.

You can still use the fabric to make a christening outfit for a boy.
my DS was in a christening gown, very plain and simple... when i had my DD we "frilled" it up.

Re: Anyone donate their wedding dress?
I'm the same way. I figured one day my daughter(s) would want to see it. Then I had a son! Meantime, my sister got married, and then sold her dress. I contemplated doing the same. Then I had a daughter. I'm happy I kept mine. It's also preserved and just sitting in my cedar closet, but one day I know my daughter will be excited to see it...the same way I was excited to see my mom's.

Also crying over here. But thank you for the link. I have been trying to figure out what to do with my wedding gown (which I LOVE!!!!!) and this may be the way to go. Not sure if I can do it quite yet, but it would be a great option. At least i would know it went to a good cause.

Re: Anyone donate their wedding dress?
I'm probably going to donate mine to this place:
Angel Gown Project of California
The reason I will probably choose them is because you can tell them the hospital to donate to if you wish. When I lost DS #2, we received two gowns, one I kept and one he was buried in along with a box of keepsakes and a camera. I would like to have the dresses from my gown donated to Winthrop (which is where I delivered him).

So sorry for your loss. Winthrop is where I would want them donated as well.

Anyone donate their wedding dress?
I sold mine shortly after my wedding on a pre owned wedding dress site. Actually got back a decent amount too! It went to a girl over in CA and I saw pics of her in it on her wedding day. Bittersweet. I do miss it sometimes. I would've liked to show my dd but I doubt she would've ever wanted it anyway. Made the most sense to just sell. My mom kept hers for 30 years until my wedding and wound up trashing it anyway after that point.
