i donate to best friends animal society
its in utah and they take care of all kinds of animals the new show dogtown is their dog area

We donate to Little Shelter in Huntington - they e-mail us to let us know what kinds of things they need and then we drop the items off.
Sometimes when we go to Costco, Dh and I pick up some extra pre-packaged gift items for pets - the kind with food, treats, toys, blankets, etc...then Dh drops them off. I think Dh really likes to do it because he can sneak a peek at all the dogs there - he wants another dog so badly!
