Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
If so how are they on the gas? DH and I want to start looking at small SUV's but don't want a gas guzzler. TIA

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
I have the Escape and I love it. It is a gas guzzler...in fact all SUV's are going to be gas guzzlers. My Honda Accord got the BEST gas milage...but that's not practical right now. I love the Ford because it's not too big, but not too small....plus my DH and father work there.

We have a 2006 Kia Sportage V6 4 Wheel Drive, Loaded that we lease and we love it. We put down $1500 and we pay $199 a month for 2 years. - Kia in Hicksville......Auto World
JD Powers rated the Sportage the # 1 small SUV. Oh and its not bad on gas

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
Thanks everyone. The Murano is my favorite. I just called Allstate for insurance quotes and so far the Escape is the cheapest followed by the Murano and Liberty.
Does anyone have the Escape Hybrid??

I just leased a Ford Escape a few months ago and I love it. I love the way it drives but it does eat up gas but that's going to be any SUV. I got a great deal on mine cause it was used for a few months by the owners wife.

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
I have a 2005 Ford Escape. I LOVE it!!! My lease is up in a year and a half and DH is going to buy it out and I'm going to get a newer one. Its a great car/SUV. It rides sooo nice, like a car!
As for gas, it uses more than my car did but not as much as DH's Ford Explorer Sport.
ETA: we got a great deal on ours too because it was driven by a sales person for a few months.

if you are considering the Murano, you may want to look at the Subaru Tribeca... i ruled out the Murano in my car search in favor of the Tribeca

I have a Chevy Equinox and its pretty good on gas. I drive the Ford Escape for work and its about the same as my car on gas. I love them both.

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
We have a new Jeep Liberty. I love that truck. It has a TON of headroom. I have never sat in a car where I had that much headroom.
You also sit VERY HIGH in the Jeep. You can see over everybody.
The Liberty has windows everywhere... so you don't have any blind spots.
I like the truck. The Murano is cool looking... but it will be a lot more expensive.
Never dealt with the Ford.

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
I rented a Liberty on vacation in St. Johns....and although ok with gas...not very powerful...but in all fairness it was a 2004 model.
We bought a CR-V last March...and I brought the car up to Massena 2 wks ago in the snow...and it handled itself very nicely....and it is also fuel efficent....on a 8 hour drive I only had to refill my tank once.

The Liberty isn't the most powerful car you can drive. But if you rented one... you probably got the 2.4L engine which would be VERY underpowered.
We got the Limited model which has a nice 3.7L engine. It does the job.
I think the Liberty looks sexy myself... especially in BLACK.
Murano looks good too... but $$$$$$$.

I have a Ford Escape and I love it, it's the perfect size for me and I don't find it to be terrible on gas, but thats because I don't go very far, I just run errands and daily stuff, no commute to work

No..its still on our To Do List...our close went south which messed our transaction to get the Tribeca...
We test droved it...loved the car, loved the payment but our closeing didnt leave us with enought money to pay off our other car...so we wait
Comparable, they are similar cars. Safety, the subaru has the edge. Design, i think the murano is sleeker then again, im use to now cause its been out. I can care less about the 3rd row seeking (its really only for kids).
it was the first SUV i've ever test drove and i must say, it still handled like a car. if there is any other infomation i can tell ya, just let me know

Thanks we are definitley going to test drive it one of these days.
its fun...the best part is.. fully loaded for the 5 passenger, it = the base model of the murano. So price wise, its a great deal. depending where you go, they will give you free maintence (we went to a dealership on 106 or 107 - i get them confused) and they offered alot of extras for free.... and subaru got low 1.9 apr for 24 months now and great lease programs (via Chase). There teir 1 might be 650 credit score if the pages were correct which for Chase is really good cause their Teir 1 is noramlly 700 credit score.
I forgot to say the Tribeca is stylish also. The Murano has just been out longer and is standard.
Plenty of room in the back seats for the 5 passenger verison.
here is the MSN link to the Tribeca

Re: Anyone drive a Nissan Murano, Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty???
We just leased a Murano and so far I absolutely love it! So roomy, and drives just like my maxima and altima. The turning radius is just like my altima, and much better than the maxima. The gas mileage is just like our maxima, since we got the V6 model. I was considering an escape, but I had 3 fords prior to my nissans and had problems with all of them, and the dealerships were no help.
