Does anyone drive the mini bus for summer camp? can you tell me what it entails? Do your kids go free? Do you get a route near your home? Do you need a special license, trainig?

You need a CDL. I drove a camp bus when I was in college so I don't know how much has changed, but I just studied a manual and took the test. Camps should at least give you a free or very discounted rate for 1 child, possibly 2. You may not make much more than tips though for the summer if you plan to send 2 kids there. As far as what route you get, it will depend on where the campers live. My route was in my town and the camp was in the next town over.

I drove a mini bus for a camp in Glen Cove while in college. I didn't have kids at the time, so I can't help with that. But I just went out for a couple of practice driving sessions with someone from the camp, and then took the written test and the road test for the CDL. My bus routes were terrible. The camp was in Glen Cove, I was there for 4 summers- one summer it was Port Washington, second summer was Manhasset, last two summers were Great Neck. By the time I dropped off the last kid it was 5 pm.
