Anyone drop their cell phone in water?

I dropped my phone in the sink filled with water and I don't know what to do!!! It was still working when I took it out but the screen started flickering so I took the battery out and dried it the best I could. From reading the internet, it says to put the phone in a container of rice and let it sit, so that's what I am doing now. Does any one have any experience with this? Please help!!

I would leave it for at least a day. I know someone that did this and it took several days to completely dry out - granted it went through the laundry - but it eventually worked.

good luck!

I've done the rice thing... it worked.

Another time I did it and it didn't work.

It all depends on how damaged it is.

UPDATE: I put the battery in and turned it on, and it WORKS!! There at two big water spots on the screen so I took out the battery and put it back in the rice, hopefully over time that will go away. I can't believe it!! The phone was an android, samsung intercept.

I did the same thing, It was in the water for all of 10 secs, if that, Left it in the rice for 8 hours and worked perfecrtly. I took it to work the next morning , when i came home i put it back in the rice to get the rest of the water behind the screen and it was gone the next morning. Just make sure you wipe down the battery area before putting back in the battery!

Re: Anyone drop their cell phone in water?

rice works great... and if your a real geek like me, you have been collecting those silica packets from new shoes and bags etc... drop your phone into a sealed Tupperware with a bunch of those. that should work great too!!

Re: Anyone drop their cell phone in water?

Try the rice trick. Definitely helps. I had two water mishaps with my phone in the last month. I accidentally flushed it down the toilet (long story lol)...shockingly, it did work after that but barely. It's a touch screen phone so I was not able to use a lot of the functions so I had to replace it. Then I dropped the replacement in the tub while giving my DD a bath the other day Chat Icon Chat Icon....but I put in some rice overnight and its working fine.

My new years resolution is to keep my phone as far away from the bathroom as possible! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone drop their cell phone in water?

A couple of years ago I dropped my phone into a cup of water. I used a blow dryer to dry it out & that worked pretty well.
