Anyone else confused?
I am looking for a new job in my field (philanthropy, nonprofit) - but its really only for the mean time till I can figure out what I really, really want to do. I like what I do but I don't want to do it for the rest of my life.
I still think about teaching, getting a PhD, going to law school, etc. - I have no idea. Plus I'm super cheap so whatever I think about is driven in part by my want to avoid loans at all costs.
Anyway, I just needed to vent. I'm turning 30 this year and still have no idea. anyone else like this?

Re: Anyone else confused?
Not so much confused, as undecided. I'm 35 and don't like my current job. I, too, don't want any loans or actually to go back to school. Just think that life can be really long, so you really need to be doing something that makes you happy, regardless of what you have to do to get there. That is what I am thinking about lately.

Re: Anyone else confused?
I went back to school part-time for my doctorate, and am graduating next May. For me I didn't want to put my life on hold, so this was a perfect solution (though most nights and every weekend for a few years was spent in class!). Sure, it is A LOT of loans, but since I was working I am paying off as I go along, so it isn't SO daunting. At this point in my life I wasn't willing to quit my job to student teach on the off chance that I might get a full-time tenure-track teaching position on Long Island...But now I am eligible for higher level positions where I am since I have the doctorate.

Re: Anyone else confused?
Have you thought about working in fundraising and development at a university? Many universities have tuition remission for employees, so that is an option. I am currently working at a university, and have had most of my masters covered, and am now working toward a doctorate. If you have any questions, feel free to FM.

Thanks! ACtually, I just interviewed for a position in grantwriting at Fordham and thought that would be perfect so I could take my time, decide what degree I want to pursue AND have it paid for - only I haven't heard back from them, so I think its a no go - but I'm trying.
