Anyone else doing the "East End Thing" today?
In about an hour, Rusty, Brinkley and I will be off to Martha Clara vineyards which opens at 11am for some pumpkin picking, sunflower picking, wine tasting and lunch picnicing. We're VERY happy they are dog friendly! It's Brinkley's first fall trip out east!
Then we take a leisurely drive back down Sound Avenue where we'll probably pick up some mums and Halloween decorations.
Then we stop at Briermere Farms for some PIE! Whooo!
I'm so excited. It's going to be a gorgeous day! Anyone else going out east today? What's on your list??

We are going to the Riverhead Fair today...
BE Forewarned: You will be taking VERY leisurely drives. We were out there yesterday and there was tons of traffic everywhere...

Thanks for the warning Gerty! We just changed our driving route to avoid that extra traffic.
I'm going to get ready now, just to make sure we make it there by lunchtime.

Yes, DEFINITELY be prepared to sit in a LOT of traffic. My parents live on Sound Ave, and went out to the store yesterday, a normal 10 minute drive took them 3 hours in total.

We just came home from Yard sale-ing, but we went north & west instead of east. I won't leave my neighborhood the rest of the day, the traffic is TOO CRAZY!The cars are backed up west of the William floyd on 25 already!

We went to the shrine today. Not east for me, just south. We di the pumpkin thing last weekend and the traffic on SOund Avenue was horrendous!

Re: Anyone else doing the "East End Thing" today?
We hit no traffic whatsoever.
We left the house at 5 minutes to 10 and were pulling into Martha Clara at 10:50.
Brinkley met some farm animals, some he was skeptical of, like the bull that he just stood staring at for a full minute:
He was friendlier towards the animals that were smaller and "almost" Brinkley sized, like the Donkeys:
He even gave one a kiss through the fence! Aww!
Here are my two boys:
I didn't know that there were no sunflowers left at Martha Clara, or that they didn't sell food! They had some oyster thing but we wanted to eat lunch. When we left, the traffic going east was horrendous.
We just stuck to the westbound side, had lunch at a little place, then picked some pumpkins, then to Briermere for pies, then home.
GREAT day. I hope you got out there as early as we did!

I friggin' LOVE your dog. He is so sweet I want to steal him.. but only until he needs more than belly rubs and ear scratches. Then you can have him back.

Re: Anyone else doing the "East End Thing" today?
We took a back route out east to avoid Riverhead around 12:30 and hit a farm stand on our way to Water's Crest Winery where they were having a chocolate truffle making demonstration (and tasting), pairing the chocolate with some delicious wines. We managed to avoid most of the traffic, but hit a few back ups heading home along 25A.

I'll swap out Robbie and No for an afternoon with the Brinkley Bear. That's a fair trade, right? Two for one??

That sounds like the most amazing day and a great FYI that Martha Clara is dog friendly!!
We're just running some errands and trying to get the apt. ready for fall.
But my mom and sister are going to a few vineyards and to Briermere Farms... I'm hoping to reep those benefits later today!!
