Re: anyone else have a child with acid reflux?
Is she on Zantac or Axid or anything like that? My daughter had pretty bad reflux and was prescribed Zantac. It helped a lot. I didn't really like the idea of giving her Mylanta all the time. Do some research, I believe Mylanta is high in aluminum and is not supposed to be used as a long term treatment for reflux. I'm not trying to scare you, but I remember when the pediatric GI told me to do this, I found it to be a little unsettling.

Re: anyone else have a child with acid reflux?
Did you try raising her mattress on an angle? My pediatrician reccommended putting the crib mattress on an angle (you can roll up blankets under one side to raise it) so that the baby sleeps on a slant. Basically to the point where if you raise it any higher the baby might slide. I know it sounds crazy, but it totally works. My cousin had to do it with her DD and it really helped the acid reflux. They also sell a wedge at BRU that you can put under the babies torso so they sleep on a slant. It's worth a shot if you are concerned about medicines. HTH!

Re: anyone else have a child with acid reflux?
my dd has it also. we switched to Isomil formula and make sure she sits up for a half hour after each feeding. she has improved about 90% since and only has occassional episodes of it now. they said her body was self soothing it b/c she was still gaining weight at the doctor.
he also recommended giving her a little more formula after she spit up to coat her insides and get the taste out of her mouth. but only an ounce.

DS had the same thing and the dr. put him on Nutramigen and since then he has spit up less, actually a completely different baby. Ask your dr. about it

This site was a lifesaver for Joanna and myself. It helped us quite a bit in getting help for Hannah
Infant Reflux
She still has it but for the most part it is controlled with meds.
she seems to get flare ups with each growth spurt.

How about putting rice cereal in the bottle? We used the Dr. Brown's with the Y shaped nipple and it decreased the spitting up... I just realzied your baby is only 7 weeks that may be too early to put cereal in. When she gets older it might help

Our doc put DS on prevacid. Perhaps that might be a better alternative?

DDs have been on this - and ever since their AR has been wonderful!!! After their feedings I can put them flat down, they no longer need their sleep positioners. Thank goodness for Zantac!!!
What dosage did the doc put her on?

I found the girls to be "cured" when we went to 3x a day. If it doesn't help I would call and ask the ped if you can do that.
I hope it helps her!!!!
