anyone else have a dog that gets more water on....
anyone have a puppy/dog that gets more water on the floor than in it's mouth when drinking? My puppy makes the biggest mess! I am constantly wiping up water! I'm afraid my wood floors are going to get ruined. Anything I can do to help prevent this?

LOL I have two that do that. I have their water bowl on a big towel, and I actually try to wipe their mouths when their done. It's a pain but then I dont have water from one end of the kitchen to the other.

I see you have a boxer too! so cute! I notice that when Max drinks his water he is at the edge of the bowl so all the water gets on the floor. Then of course he leaves a trail of water when he walks away! I had a place mat thing under the bowls but that didn't help. And I tried putting a towel but then he doesn't go near the bowl and starts crying!

YES!! I am sensing a Boxer pattern lol. My boxer trails water throughout the house and all I can really do is wipe it up.. it's such a pain!

OMG Yes. My little Lhasa does this. I swear I think he trys to swim in it lol and it's not a big tall bowl.
I put a towel underneath it and he still manages to get it everywhere. I have to wipe his face afterward too.

Yup...I put a little kitchen floor mat under his bowl stand, and he still manages to get the water EVERYWHERE.
But I still him!

No but my MIL's dog does this and it annoys her to no end. We got lucky with our dog she is a neat lil one.

Yes, I have a Bullmastiff and he leaves a trail of water after every drink. I have to chase after him with a washcloth!

Re: anyone else have a dog that gets more water on....
our dog does this too. Whenever she's done drinking, she just lets whatever water is still in her mouth dribble out as she walks away instead of swallowing it, which drives me crazy! I wish there was a way to teach her to have better "table manners" lol.
But even worse is that she sometimes like to play with her water by putting her front paws into it and splashing it, which makes a huge mess all around her dish and leaves wet paw prints all over the kitchen. We had a plastic mat under her dish, and we put a towel under the mat too to absorb the water. But she loves to chew on towels, so we have to make sure we fold it up really well so none of it is sticking out from under the plastic mat. Otherwise, she would try to steal it, and most likely make an even bigger mess by tipping her bowl over,
I've actually considered getting a water dispenser like the kind that hamsters use and teaching her how to drink out of that just to prevent the mess she always leaves. I just don't know if she would know how to drink out of it.
