Anyone else have a sensitive child?
I was just wondering what type of things upset your child.
Sarah's teacher pulled me aside today to tell me that one day last week and today she was crying in class quite a bit. Pretty much any time they asked her to do something (sit in the circle or help clean up) which is very out of the ordinary since she's an eager to please type of kid.
My in laws have been visiting, but they have been here almost 3 weeks and left today. Maybe my MIL upset her with all the "I'll miss you" that went on yesterday when they were leaving our house? But that doesn't explain last week.
Just trying to figure out why she's been so upset when she usually loves school.

Is there a child who maybe is teasing her?

Myabe. She did say that one of them hurt her on accident, maybe the boys are playing rough. She's the only girl in her class.

Re: Anyone else have a sensitive child?
My DD always acts out and becomes more sensitive when my IL's come to visit - And they stay for months at a time. I don't know why it happens but it does...

I am betting it is your IL"s leaving. Give her a few days and she will most likely be back to her normal self

Re: Anyone else have a sensitive child?
Well...I don't have a sensitive child, but I WAS a sensitive child.
If people would look at me, I would cry. If the teacher asked me a question, I would cry. This went from Kindergarten all the way until 5th grade. I remember it, that's how terrible it was. I still remember how it used to make me feel and I never want my child (OR any child for that matter) to feel that way.
For me, I remember being nervous that everyone was looking at me. Or neverous I would do something wrong, or say the wrong answer. I always had a huge fear of people laughing at me. I don't know why. I just think it was a huge mess of nervous energy.
Does she seem to have a low self esteem? I know I did. No matter what my mom did, I was so afraid to get made fun of.
I don't have any advice, really. But I know my mom would ask my why I was crying and just listen. That was the best thing she used to do. She didn't give me advice, sometimes she would cry with me because she felt so bad for me.
Sometimes my dad would loose his patience and yell at me, which would only make it worse. So, no matter what, do NOT say "there's no reason to cry" or something along those lines.
Good luck and to Sarah and mommy for having to deal with this. It must be heart breaking.

Thanks! I try to build up her self esteem b/c I have a lot of self image issues. I tell them both all the time how smart, funny, beautiful, etc they are, how much I love them, how happy they make me.
Hopefully it's just all the change with my ILs coming in and now leaving.

I'm sure that's what it is. Poor baby. She's probably just emotional because of them coming then leaving...that's a lot for a child, especially if she's sensitive to begin with.
