Anyone else have a skinny toddler?
Jack is 15 months old and he is 32 inches but only 20 lbs 2 oz. Doc doesn't seem worried since he did grow almost 2 inces since our last appointment, but only but on less than a pound. Jack eats really well, he is just so active! He started walking at 9 months and he only gets more active! Any tricks to fatten him up a bit?

Re: Anyone else have a skinny toddler?
James is almost 18 months and weighs about 19 lbs...but doc isn't worried because he is still growing height wise...and his weight does go up every appointment....but he is thin.
At 1st Doc thought it was just because James was a Micro Preemie...so I brought my Doc my records and my sisters when we were toddlers...so he could see we were skinny kids too....so he said that he doesn't think there is anything to worry about...some kids gain slower than others.

Isabelle was a micro preemie too. How much was James at birth? Isabelle is 15 months old and weighs 11 1/2 pounds..and is just about 27 inches tall.

Re: Anyone else have a skinny toddler?
Jenna at 16 1/2 months is also a skinny toddler. She is just over 21 pounds but 32 inches tall-long and lean. She also eats and drinks fine so my peds aren't the least concerned. I remember complaining to them once that Jenna doesn't have those pudgy toddler legs and my ped laughed and said he doesn't understand where the sterotype came in that pudgy babies are healthier. If anything I should be happier. Anyway-rambling over

Re: Anyone else have a skinny toddler?
my middle child was very thin, and not gaining weight and my docs were very concerned sionce she was falling off of the growth charts. I met with a dietician who had me cooking with oil, adding cremes to her oatmeal, creme of wheat etc, and even had me add canola oil to her bottles (yuck!), they had me do this for a few months because they wanted to make sure she was able to gain weight vs. unable to retain fats. She gained 2 lbs quick, so they just attributed her slmness to genetics and her unique eating habits. We went for blood draws, etc to r/o a more serious problem, it was a scary time indeed, weight checks every month from the time she was 12months o 22 months

Re: Anyone else have a skinny toddler?
Kiera is the same way. She's 15 months, about 31 inches and just weighs about 20 pounds. I was concerned but the doctor said as long as she is developing "normally" there is nothing to worry about with weight. She also started walking at 9 months and the doctors did say that would contribute to her not gaining very fast. They told us not to give her crap to fatten her up. Just keep feeding her as we have been and she'll gain weight at her own pace.
It's horrible for clothes though. Because she's there on the height but she's thin so her pants keep falling off her.
