Re: anyone else have windows vista? your thoughts?
I'm purposely holding off, because Windows always has problems with new releases. I'm not trying to be negative, but I'd really like to hear how it's working for you in a few months. We need a new computer and are considering switching to a Mac because we don't want Vista 1st edition, and XP will be outdated soon. But if I hear positive feedback on Vista, I may reconsider.
That wasn't any help to you...I'm sorry. Shameless post, I guess.

Re: anyone else have windows vista? your thoughts?
My friend was just asking me the same question. I told him to try to find a PC that had XP on it. I would stay away from Vista till Microsoft can work out all of the bugs. I bought a new desktop in december, and was told I can Vista for free when it is released in February. I decided not to even bother. I know there will be bugs that need to be worked out.
My friend who repairs PC's has already been getting calls for him to come fix brand new computers with Vista.
Hopefully you wont have any problems. I wish you posted before you bought the PC. Thank god for warrantys. If you have an extended warranty option....I would send the card in. Just in case.
And when the second and third version come out, make sure you upgrade Scott

Re: anyone else have windows vista? your thoughts?
Computers will always have updates to them. I have been using Vista since beta stages (well over 3 months now) and its a stable operating system.
Anything, espically an operating system is hard to manage at first cause all the other companies must do updates to there software to let it work.
Some wait until a major revision is made (similar to what scott said)...Remember, alot of PC errors is not because of hardware/software...users are a big part why PC's don't work. I can't count the many times i have to repair stuff because people don't know how to surf the web and/or install every program that they surf to on sites...
If you have any questions, feel free to FM me.

My dad just got it and he is having A LOT of trouble with it. He finally got the windows people at tech support to admit there were still a lot of bugs to be worked out.

Re: anyone else have windows vista? your thoughts?
I've heard of problems hooking up printers, scanners, etc. One instance I read about was a new HP computer with Vista and they had a 2 year old HP printer - turns out that there are no print drivers available for that model. Before you purchase I would look into compatibility with your peripherals, otherwise you may be purchasing more than just a new computer. Also, if you use any programs that are not mainstream you may have a problem. Supposedly they're compatible with a lot of games, but many are not working. I have some softwear for designing knitted garments and I really doubt they have upgrades for Vista yet. So consider that too before you make the switch.
