Anyone else keep their kids home after they get vaccines?
When DS was a newborn and an infant, it was just easier for us to stay home and snuggle after his shots. He would get them on a Friday, and I'd watch for any reactions over the weekend before I went back to work.
As he's gotten older and he's out crawling, walking, touching things, I worry about the germs out there. I worry that he might "catch" something while his body is trying to build up his immunity to the vaccines. So we stay home the day he gets his shots.
DS is 15 mos and is getting his MMR this Saturday. I plan on keeping him at home and away from all those germies this weekend.
Am I being smart, overly cautious or just plain paranoid?

No, we just go about our normal routine.

Same. Plus I don't like to be out if she is cranky.

I'm fine with being neurotic when it comes to my child. I'm sure there are many family members who would , but I'd rather be overly cautious for his sake.

I dont' worry about the germs so much as I do about her being cranky and a pain in the A I try to stay home as to not get caught out if she is having a screaming fit.

I don't keep her home. She is getting MMR and chickenpox today actually. Tomorrow she will be back at daycare.

Nope. Never. DD got her shots and we wouldn't really change anything. We went out to eat, shopping, and visiting with family and friends. I don't really see the need to stay in.

Re: Anyone else keep their kids home after they get vaccines?
Honestly, it would never cross my mind to keep my girls home after they get a shot unless they were acting like they were sick or they were to get a fever. We go about our usual routine after doctor visits.
Etd to add I figure there are always sick people at the peds office so they have a slight chance of picking something up there - or for that matter they could have picked up something earlier that day or the day before - unless you stay home for a week before the shots and several days after you really can't avoid germs.

I only do becuase dd usually wants to take a nap after a shot.-not because I am afraid of anything in specific.
