Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
So I'm 17 weeks 2 days. I have not really looked at baby stuff AT ALL. DH and I went to BBB a few weeks ago and got completely overwhelmed. Since then I have not looked at one thing. I guess I should start but I have no idea where to begin.

I felt that way at first too... i got the baby bargains book and slowly started reading through that little by little until I felt comfortable enough to start building our registry online... then before i knew it i was addicted!

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
I didn't start looking until after my 20 week sono and found out we were having a . After that I figured it was good to go and start looking and shopping.

I started at 10 weeks
but then again, I'm famous for micromanaging situations and planning ahead. I think your timing is much more common.....

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
Me too. I guess since my last pregnancy ended in a m/c, I am scared to. I hardly even check things out on BRU or my Baby Bargains book. I want to wait until my Level II before I register [June 11th] but I think it's time to start researching! There is a lot of stuff to consider... I have to work Monday [Memorial Day] so I will probably do my research then, when hardly anyone will be working.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
When I was registering last time, I bought Baby Bargains (that was by bible when I was picking out stuff). I read it, then went to BRU to look at the items I liked when I was reading the book.
When I finally took DH with me to register at 20 weeks I already knew what brands I wanted it was just a matter of me an DH picking out the style we liked. It was much easier and wasn't so overwhelming.
I went back with my Mom after registering for all the big stuff with DH. Mom and I went nuts with all the little things.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
i bought two onesies as soon as i got my BFP but those were for my sisters, it's how i told them they were going to be aunts!
after that i didn't buy anything baby-related until i was 17, 18 weeks, and that was only b/c i was on vacation.
i registered early b/c we wanted most gender-neutral stuff so we can use it for future babies, but i did the bulk of my registering after my level II. i think it's totally normal to wait until the 20 week mark to even start looking. i know when i first went to BRU with my mom i was completely overwhelmed. i didn't know where to start! it was much easier once DH and i went back and got the scanner and the list, that way we were able to tackle the store section by section - and i had already read a lot of baby bargains so i knew what i wanted.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
I looked at a ton of stuff online the day I found out ....but haven't really done it since. I'm only 9 weeks, I feel like I shuld wait until I am out of the first trimester before really starting to look at stuff.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
Thanks ladies. I think DH and I will venture out to BBB again this weekend and make a note of things. I started reading baby bargains last night and also still have the list of stuff we helped my sister register for.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
When I was at the same point you were, I walked in there and walked out too. It helps to do a little research, ask questions of new parents and BREATHE. This is very overwhelming. I strongly suggest, that when you do register, to bring a new and/or experienced mom (or dad) with you. I brought two friends and it was VERY helpful to me. I definitely could not have done it without them.

I'm 20 weeks and I just started looking online at stuff. We haven't ventured to BRU yet. I think we will next weekend. My friend who just had a baby will come with us.

I waited until after my 20 week sono. Then I started reading Baby Bargains and slowly added items to my registry. Don't worry, you have plenty of time.

We didn't start picking things out until after we knew what we were having (19 wks) and then didn't actually buy anything until about 8 wks before he was born.

Re: Anyone else not look at baby items yet?
The last time I bought a baby shower gift I walked into BRU and got totally overwhelmed. It made my head spin, and this was just picking out a gift! I wasn't pregnant yet, but hoped it was my imminent future and knew the registering process was going to be a bit scary to DH and I. So, last weekend armed with the Baby Bargains book, we went to BRU (14 weeks) to just start looking and getting an idea of things that we like/don't like/need, etc. My DH is also super anal and hands on and is as much into things like decorating as I am (he's an interior designer ) which ultimately means we debate at long length over every little item. We still feel overwhelmed after that visit, but it definitely helped to start looking around, even though we won't register to probably about 20 weeks, and we feel a lot better about it. I've started researching the bigger items and will then work from there.
GL!
