Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
Right now we are in the middle of purchasing a rental property upsate, completely renovating our kitchen ourselves, and I have to trade in my car, plan the nursery and register.
All this while 23 weeks pregnant, showeres EVERY weekend and lots of summer plans.
Anyone feel pressured to get things done before baby comes?
Sometimes I think we are taking on too much....
Oh, and we also have to find time to go to classes to figure out how to actually take care of this baby!

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
We started looking for a house when I was 20 weeks PG. We are still waiting to close and I fear the baby will come before we can get in there. Once we close, the place needs to be painted, new carpet, and a full cleaning. I only have a few weeks left.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
IMy mom just had major surgery that we thought was cancer (but isn't! ). We live in a tiny, 2 bedroom home and are renovating our basement to make an office and move the bookcases so we can have a nursery. My job ends on 9/30 so I am looking for a new one. In the beginning of my pregnancy my OB was concerned about a few things. There have been times I've def felt about to lose it.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
does completely renovating the house we bought in may all by ourselves count? if so.. lol --- YES..
it is a lot of work and we want to be in by the time our DD joins us - but it feels great to know that we are building our home together and it has made the last 24 weeks fly right by!

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
We started house hunting when I was @ 10 weeks. We have found a place and are in contract! Now we have to close, completely (and I do mean completely) furnish the place, paint it clean it etc.
However, the alternative is much more stressful.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
Let's just say that there was a major project that I started right before getting pregnant. It was something that I had wanted for my whole life--- career related. The opportunity to do it suddenly fell into my lap. I was not able to continue with it when my complications arose. There is still a small chance that that opportunity will be there later. I do think that I could make it work even with a baby. I read your post/question and got really sad thinking about it. Some other opportunities have come up, for things that are not as taxing as the one I had to give up. I have been able to handle those and they have taken my mind off the one that may have gotten away.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
Ugggg...
Renovating our basement which includes going thru every box we moved and consolidating it so we can move it all up to the attic. (We never really unpacked because of the renovations being done on the main floor)
Moving our office into the spare room & completing the nursery.
Designing & remodeling my Grandmothers 2 bathrooms & kitchen while she's in Florida.
Having my Grandfather pass away early in my pregnancy was & still is hard.
Planning my baby shower (fam. is in Florida)
Buying DH's new truck & now we are looking for my new car.
It's always something!!!

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
Relocated out of state mid pregnancy for a promotion.
Moved into temporary housing.
Bought, closed on and moved into a house in the last 2 months.
Traveled back and forth to LI to visit family, for showers, etc (no longer doing this as I just hit 36 weeks).
Lots of other stuff, but that is the big stuff.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
We live in a co-op apartment that previously had a large vanity area in the bathroom, but no washer dryer...
The contractor is just finishing the work for remodeling/installation today, I am at 36 weeks....The work required me to take EVERYTHING out of my closet since the crawlspace access is in my closet and they needed to get up there. Since we have no storage really, all of my clothes are piled on the futon in the living room. Our room is storage for the things that were in the vanity drawers...
All of this at the same time we had company and my shower this past weekend...

Sorry to be so negative. I don't usually dwell on how bad the timing was. If it's meant to be, it will be. I do feel the pressure of having to get things done. We are planning a kick a-s-s nursery and we hope to make more progress this weekend. I do not think I could have done major renovations at this time, but DH did finish a lot of awesome cosmetic things on the house, like moldings.

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
Well, I had major stomach issues in my first trimester and then the doctors thought I had lymphoma for about a month (I dont!). When that was all over, work got CRAZY and of course, we're moving next Weds No wonder I havent taken a birthing class, found a pediatrician, nanny, ordered my furniture, any of that stuff...

Re: Anyone else taking on massive projects while pregnant?
I moved 3 times between my 4th month of pregancy and when my bab turned 6mo. Had construction on a house and did all shopping for fixtures while living in my brother's basement. It all works out. Chin up, you will get by.
